No, I'm Ninjabi! |
I came accross this ninjabi.com web site thinking, "How dare someone take my name!" Lol. But it's a really cute site and the girl who made it sells a few T-shirts that are so perfect for Hijabis. One of them made me think of my dear ZZ. It says: "Dangers of Hijab. #12 Random men will propose to you." Hehe, it's so funny cuz its actually true. Check out the other shirts, they're cute. :)

Hello, Hello?......They Hung up.... |
Today I had to go to the KAET station and take polls. For those who don’t know me very well, I HATE calling people! So, going to KAET and calling random people for four hours wasn’t my first choice of things to do on a Saturday morning. This is what I had to say:
“Hello, my name is Nicole and I’m a student calling from Arizona State University. We are doing a public opinions poll for KAET-TV [just for kicks, try saying KAET-TV fast], channel 8, and we are talking to people who are registered to vote in the state of Arizona. Are you a registered voter?”
Sometimes I made it through the whole thing before they hung up, sometimes not. I was really happy that no one was real mean about it though. Most people were nice and I was actually surprised at how many people seemed happy to take the poll. Overall I think it was a good experience. :) If anyone cares to check out the results of Nicole’s awesome poll taking skills, you can watch “the Horizon program on KAET, channel 8 at 7pm on Tuesday the 26th, or check out the results online at http://www.azpbs.org/.” ;)
Dedication: I’d like to dedicate this post to BK because I know how much she is in need of reading material. :) |

Arab Country Singer?... |
Who knew this day would come!? This brother is an Egyptian American and he has a new country music CD for sale. You can listen to samples of his songs on the website. I'm not always a fan of country, but I like his music! Gotta love Muslim country. ;) Yeeha!!

Always wondered why we did no labor on Labor Day |
In an attempt to appease the nation's workers, Labor Day is born
The movement for a national Labor Day had been growing for some time. In September 1892, union workers in New York City took an unpaid day off and marched around Union Square in support of the holiday. But now, protests against President Cleveland's harsh methods made the appeasement of the nation's workers a top political priority. In the immediate wake of the strike, legislation was rushed unanimously through both houses of Congress, and the bill arrived on President Cleveland's desk just six days after his troops had broken the Pullman strike.
1894 was an election year. President Cleveland seized the chance at conciliation, and Labor Day was born. He was not reelected.
